Pathologies studied in our center

PATHOLOGIES STUDIED IN OUR CENTER

The Cardiogenetics service of IRCCS Policlinico San Donato, associated with the Department of Arrhythmology and Electrophysiology , directed by Prof. Carlo Pappone, is affiliated with the “Center of expertise for hereditary cardiac rhythm defect” “Center of expertise for hereditary cardiac rhythm defect”.

The service focuses mainly on the study of family arrhythmic heart disease, and has become a reference point for Italian and international patients affected by Brugada syndrome. In particular, the following pathologies are studied:

• Brugada syndrome (BrS)

• Long QT syndrome (LQTS)

• Arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia (ARVD)

• Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy

• Noncompaction cardiomyopathy

• Familial dilated cardiomyopathy

The activity of the Cardiogenetics laboratory also extends to the following pathologies:

• Coagulation disorders (deficiency of factor VIII, factor IX, factor X, and thrombotic diathesis)

• Connective tissue disorders (Marfan syndrome and Ehlers Danlos syndrome)

• Genetic syndromes with cardiovascular involvement

• Familial hypercholesterolaemia
