The Department of Arrhythmology and Electrophysiology, directed by Prof. Carlo Pappone, located at IRCCS Policlinico San Donato, Piazza Malan 2, 20090 San Donato Milanese (Milan), has about 50 beds (in a double or single room), all equipped with continuous electrocardiographic monitoring systems and dedicated personnel highly specialized in assisting cardiological patients with heart rhythm disorders.
All the following electrophysiological procedures take place after hospitalization:
- Transcatheter ablations
- Cardiac device implant (pacemaker / defibrillator / resynchronizer / loop recorder)
- Diagnostic tests (pharmacological provocative tests and electrophysiological study)
- Electrical cardioversion
- Closure of the auricle
Hospitalization can take place with the NHS (free) or privately (for a fee).
The average length of stay for electrophysiological procedures varies from one day (external electrical cardioversion or implant loop recording or diagnostic tests) to about 4 days for more complex procedures (trench-boring ablation or PM / ICD implants).
