The Institute of Molecular and Translational Cardiology (IMTC) has the main objective of becoming a reference hub for the research and diagnostics of cardiovascular diseases in the coming years.

Thanks to the latest generation tools present in the center, IMTC has several main research objectives, including:
• The study of physiology and cellular pathologies by the most up-to-date technological systems and cutting-edge knowledge;
• The development of ‘precision medicine’ techniques for evaluating the effects, efficacy and safety of innovative pharmacological treatments;
• The biochemical, molecular and electrophysiological characterization of genetic defects responsible both for more frequent congenital heart diseases and for rarer syndromic forms involving the cardiovascular system;
• The development of new diagnostic tests for cardiovascular diseases through the use of artificial intelligence and multiomics techniques;
Mass screening for the diagnosis of patients at high risk of sudden death or cardiomyopathy.

To develop such researches, IMTC involves a multidisciplinary team composed of several highly specialized subgroups, including cardiologists, geneticists, biochemists, cellular electrophysiologists, signal analysis chemists, engineers, mathematicians and bioinformaticians.

Below is the list of the main laboratories:
• Laboratory of Biochemistry and Multiomics Analysis
• Structural Biology Laboratory
• Cellular Electrophysiology Laboratory
• Medical Devices Development Laboratory
• Clinical Genetics Laboratory
• Laboratory of Bioinformatics and Genetics of Complex Systems
• Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Signal Analysis

In IMTC, numerous experiments will be carried out by the various research groups, ranging from basic biology, molecular biology, structural biology, electrophysiology and finally to chemistry.

All activities will be carried out in accordance with international safety and quality protocols in carefully designed premises, to allow a correct and safe experimentation.
